LUCKNOW, India, April 16 (ANI): Two children died in a fire that broke out in a slum area of Vikas Nagar in Lucknow, police said on Thursday.
Lucknow Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Deeksha Sharma said two bodies were recovered during ongoing rescue operations late at night, and the parents of the children have been informed.
“Rescue operations by the SDRF, NDRF, and the police administration continued through the night. Unfortunately, two bodies were found late at night. Their parents have been informed and are at the postmortem facility as legal proceedings continue. The parents have identified the bodies, and the children were around two years old,” Sharma told ANI.
Fire tenders were rushed to the scene, and firefighting operations were carried out to bring the blaze under control swiftly.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and directed officials to expedite relief operations.
