FLORIDA, June 28 (ANI) — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted additional military strikes against multiple targets in Iran on Saturday (local time) under the direction of President Donald Trump.
According to a CENTCOM statement, the latest operation followed Iran’s reported attack on the Panama-flagged tanker M/T Kiku, which was transiting near the Strait of Hormuz carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil.
CENTCOM said that after the U.S. strikes carried out a day earlier in response to Iran’s attack on the cargo vessel M/V Ever Lovely, Tehran had an opportunity to comply with the ceasefire agreement but instead launched a one-way attack drone that struck the tanker at approximately 4:30 a.m. local time.
In response, U.S. forces targeted Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and mine-laying capabilities.
“CENTCOM forces launched strikes today in direct response to continued Iranian aggression against commercial shipping,” the statement said.
The command added that commercial vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz continues and that U.S. forces remain “vigilant, lethal, and ready.”
Meanwhile, Ibrahim al-Fiqar, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, issued a series of warnings on X following the U.S. strikes.
“You targeted sovereignty, so expect a practical response that will change the equations,” al-Fiqar wrote.
In another post, he warned, “You miscalculated, and our patience has run out… so prepare for a long, endless night.”
He added, “You have crossed all lines, and our decision is not just talk; the coming hours will speak for our strength.”
The latest escalation comes after Bahrain accused Iran on Saturday of launching several drones into its territory, calling the incident a violation of its sovereignty and a threat to regional peace.
In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned what it described as an attack by “several Iranian drones” early Saturday, calling it a “flagrant violation” of the kingdom’s sovereignty and accusing Tehran of undermining efforts to maintain regional stability. (ANI)
