Kremlin Announces Russia’s Readiness for Third Round of Negotiations With Ukraine

Moscow [Russia], July 14 (ANI): The Kremlin on Sunday reiterated Russia’s readiness to hold a third round of negotiations with Ukraine to resolve the ongoing conflict, Russian media outlet MIC Izvestia reported.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the remarks during a briefing, saying Moscow continues to await proposals from Kyiv on potential timelines for renewed talks.

“Well, it’s obvious that Kyiv is in no hurry. We are still awaiting proposals on deadlines. The Russian side is ready to continue and to hold the third round,” Peskov said, as quoted by MIC Izvestia.

In earlier comments carried by RT, Peskov emphasized that Russia remains open to a peaceful, political, and diplomatic resolution of the conflict but warned that the situation on the ground continues to evolve in the absence of talks.

“We should wait for some signals from the Kyiv regime, who should say whether they want to hold a third round of direct talks or not,” Peskov said. “We have repeatedly said that we would prefer achieving our goals through peaceful political-diplomatic means.”

He added that as long as a negotiated settlement remains out of reach, “the special military operation continues, and realities on the ground are changing every day,” RT reported.

Two rounds of direct negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian delegations were previously held in Istanbul in mid-May and early June of this year. However, no date has yet been set for a third round of talks.

Meanwhile, on July 11 in Kuala Lumpur, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to reporters after his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, saying Washington remains committed to engaging with all parties to seek a resolution to the conflict.

Rubio described his discussions with Lavrov as “frank and important” and reiterated the Biden administration’s frustration at the lack of progress in peace negotiations.

“Our strategy is to continue to engage all the parties that are involved in finding an outcome to this conflict. We will engage anytime that we have an opportunity to do so, like we did today,” Rubio said. “I echoed what the President said — both the disappointment and frustration at the lack of progress in peace talks or in a path forward. So, we’ll continue to engage.” (ANI)
